- Abstract
The article focuses on the principles and traditional theories underpinning the media while reporting terrorism in the social media age. Topics discussed include ethical considerations of the self-censorship of the reportage of the Foley video in traditional broadcast media, restatements of the existing codes of ethics with synthesis of issues specific to terrorist organization Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and ethical guidelines for future reporting on ISIL.
