The article informs about the compulsory testing for bovine viral Diarrhea (BVD) virus implemented in Northern Ireland effective starting on March 1, 2016. Topics discussed are the costs of initial testing of animals, financial gains or profits from eradicating BVD from herds, alignment of tag and test scheme with requirements in the rest of Ireland, and the partnership between the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) and the cattle industry.
