- Authors
BAROUD, RAMZY
- Abstract
The article discusses the recognition of Palestinian journalists in Gaza by UNESCO, who awarded them the 2024 World Press Freedom Prize. The decision was partly motivated by the journalists' courage in covering the Israeli war on Gaza. The article highlights the dangers faced by these journalists, with 143 of them being killed by Israel between October 2023 and May 2024. It also emphasizes the importance of these journalists in conveying the truth about the war, as they are often the only ones with access to the conflict zone. The article concludes by stating that the success and sacrifices of Gaza journalists should serve as a model for journalism worldwide.
