- Abstract
This article explores the origins of the Christmas tree and its connections to both pagan and Christian traditions. It discusses how ancient civilizations used evergreen wreaths, garlands, and trees to symbolize their respect for nature and belief in eternal life. The modern Christmas tree can be traced back to Christian traditions, with December 25 becoming the date for celebrating Christmas as Christianity spread. The article also delves into the similarities and differences between the Egyptian myth of Atum and the biblical story of Adam and Eve, highlighting the contrasting beliefs of Egyptian polytheism and Hebrew monotheism. It concludes by emphasizing the importance of our relationship with nature and the need to move away from destructive practices.
