- Abstract
The article examines the role of extracellular matrix (ECM) stiffness in regulating the cell behavior. Topics discussed include role of the ECM stiffness in altering the density of cell-adhesive ligands, impact of the stiffness on porosity and the interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) system involved in analyzing the role of stiffness in controlling the mammary epithelial morphogenesis. Also discussed is the impact of stiffness and porosity on the differentiation of tissue stem cells.
