- Abstract
The article discusses the 2006 visit to Germany by teacher education students at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) in San Antonio, Texas to see institutions and sites where kindergarten founder Friedrich Froebel worked and lived. It states that in 2006, the Children Are Reason Enough (CARE) organization submitted a proposal to visit Germany for a UIW competition. It says that the result of the trip was that students employed the philosophy of Froebel in their teaching. A fourth grade teacher who participated in the trip comments that their trip to Germany and his Froebel education was one of his favorite experiences. It adds that as the student teachers looked back on their trip, they visualized that the best practices in 2010 are usually founded in the past.
