- Abstract
The article focuses on the decree issued by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, which may cause damage to Siberia's Lake Baikal, the world's largest freshwater lake and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It states that the decree allows the resumption of the industrial wastewater's emission into the lake as well as the storage and disposal of hazardous materials along the shoreline. The decision to reopen the Baikalsk Pulp and Paper Mill is discussed.
