The article offers information on the nineteenth-century botanical expedition of botanist David Douglas. It mentions how Scottish naturalist David Douglas sailed from Liverpool, England on an expedition to New York and the mid-Atlantic states. While traveling throughout the U.S., he visited botanical specimens collected by the Lewis and Clark expedition. It further mentions that David Douglas had two portraits made during his stay in London, England, in 1829.
