- Abstract
The article discusses the relationship between healthy voice and successful teaching and learning in the music classroom in the U.S. It presents several studies regarding the voice problems suffered by music teachers as well as the causes and common symptoms of vocal distress which include chronic throat soreness, hoarseness and chronic throat dryness. Moreover, the services offered by the American Speech-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the care and maintenance of voice are also presented.
