- Authors
Wallace, Jean E.; Kay, Fiona M.
- Abstract
The article discusses tokenism in law firms using the sociological theories of proportional rarity, expectation states and social support. An overview of the social aspects of the legal profession, including the social status of minorities, the gender composition within an organizational context and the emotional and informational support that women receive from their peers, is provided. The role that the representation of women employees plays in facilitating communication among law firm employees is discussed.
