- Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the poetry of Alfred Tennyson in regards to its engagement with 19th-century English gender concepts. The series of "lady poems" from Tennyson's early 1830s collections are particularly highlighted and analyzed concerning their depictions of female characteristics, seeking to address what ideals of women's role and character existed in 19th-century England.
