- Abstract
The article discusses the human rights violations and violence in the prisons of the Latin America and significance of the Inter-American human rights system to protect human rights of prisoners. Topics discussed include constitution of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights to protect prisoners' rights to life, direct access of prisoners' to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights to prevent violence and the decision of court in case Miguel Castro-Castro Prison v. Peru.
