- Abstract
The article discusses fascism and media globalization in the film "Starship Troopers," directed by Paul Verhoeven. The film is based on the book by Robert Heinlein. The author examines the Earth government in the film, the Terran Federation, and how it is the logical outcome of economic globalization. The military and democratic ideals of Heinlein are examined. The author discusses the Nazi imagery of the film and the criticism of it. Subjects of the article also include Verhoeven's use of the enemy in the film as an allegory for communists and how nations define themselves by who their enemy is.
