- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the status of HIV in China as of October 2007. According to the Chinese Ministry of Health, an estimated 700,000 infections had occurred, with 38 percent of the infections attributed to heterosexual contacts. Also discussed are the proportion of women infected, the proportion of infected men who have sex with other men, intravenous drug use in Yunnan, disease distribution, changes in age distribution, HIV-1 genetics in Yunnan and comparisons using nucleotide sequence data from Yunnan.
