- Abstract
An essay on policy changes in the first year of U.S. President Ronald Reagan called Reaganomics in 1985 is presented. It offers a history of the Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981(ERTA) and analyzes the changes in various aspects including the policy setting agenda, policy adoption and the role of presidential leadership in the policy arena. It relates the Thermidorean reaction, the recession that led Reagan to step back from conservative policy and his support for the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act (TEFRA) in 1982.
