- Abstract
Trigeminal neuralgia, one of the pain conditions with severe pain, can be effectively treated with pharmacotherapy and invasive methods of pain treatment (at the level of the peripheral nerve, Gasser's ganglion, or nerve root). Painful trigeminal neuropathy is defined as facial pain in one or more branches of the trigeminal nerve caused by other conditions or damage to the nerve. This condition can be effectively treated with individual pharmacotherapy and non-pharmacological methods, and in some cases, invasive methods. In both diseases, many treatment methods can be proposed, including the minimally invasive procedure of pulsed radiofrequency (PRF). The following study presents two cases of successful therapy using pulsed radiofrequency of the peripheral branches of the trigeminal nerve in patients with trigeminal neuralgia and painful trigeminal neuropathy. Prior to the procedure, pain relief was obtained in the painful branches of the trigeminal nerve after a diagnostic block. pulsed radiofrequency is a minimally invasive, safe for the patient treatment method.
