- Abstract
The article presents information on the role of public employment service in the unemployment compensation program in the U.S. The nature of the U.S. Employment Service, which came into existence on June 6, 1933, with the passage of the Wagner-Peyser Act, is discussed. The relationships between the Employment Service and the Unemployment Compensation Program, are discussed in detail. Registration and certification of employment status, are stated as two major functions of the Employment Service, to be discharged in the entire program.
