- Abstract
The article offers information on a survey regarding the role and qualification of psychiatrists as expert testimony in legal proceedings. It reports that according to the survey obtained with the consent from the judges of the courts, in the course of five years in the U.S. 14,982 felonies and 6,808 misdemeanors were tried. It reports out of 792 prisoners, psychiatric conditions were noted in 517 cases. It states that appointment of these various commissions required the services of physicians, appointed by the court determined by reference to their medical background, on 1050 occasions.
