The article offers a study to determine the effects of implanting ram and wether lambs with zeranol at birth and weaning on meat palatability and muscle collagen characteristics. Topics include zeranol-implanted and nonimplanted wether lambs representing four treatments were evaluated for meat palatability and muscle collagen characteristics; and concluded that rams synthesize and accumulate more longissimus muscle collagen and have higher Warner-Bratzler shear values than do wethers.
