- Abstract
The extraction of Zinc(II) ions from its aqueous solutions according to the cloud-point Extraction (CPE) methodology was carried out after composition of ionic bonding complex of metal ions with the organic reagent 1-(2-Pyridylazo)-2-naphthol (PAN) in the presence of 1% Triton X-100 as a surfactant. The ionic complex was detected by UV-Vis Spectrophotometry at ëmax of 416. The work involved studying the effect of several parameters on the CPE efficiency such as pH, temperature, Triton X-100 surface size and others using (one factor at a time). The optimal values of these parameters were 1×10-4M organic reagents PAN, 0.5mL of (1 %) Triton X-100, in the presence of 50μg/5mL of Zn(II) ions at 800C and pH = 8. Calculation of thermodynamic functions showed that the reaction was exothermic and the Stoichiometry study illustrated that the complex structure was (1:1). This method then used to determinate of Zn(II) in different samples.
