- Authors
Hurley, Annie
- Abstract
The article discusses the risk factors and identification of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), the most common congenital musculoskeletal childhood disorder. It emphasizes the importance of understanding the process of hip joint growth to recognize the underlying abnormalities which could lead to the development of DDH. It notes that the breech presentation and reduced amniotic fluid which reduces the movements of fetus are critical factors in the development of DDH during the last four weeks of the pregnancy.
