- Abstract
The article probes the ability of the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), a treaty adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, to assure progressive realization of socioeconomic rights particularly health care rights in South Africa. It informs that several loopholes exist within the ICESCR framework and its ratification is recommended. It also presents an insight into the comparison drawn between South African and ICESCR socioeconomic framework.
