- Abstract
The present article aims to bring up the question of the espionage industry in a philosophical and anthropological perspective due to the paradoxical difference between its objectives, that is, search for peace and security as a counterpoint to economic gains. Initially, it will seek to establish a prospect about espionage activity as a historical power tool, evolving from military tactics to an industry branch that holds significant financial gains, especially over the last decades. This analysis will be followed by bringing to light Kant's work, Perpetual Peace, and its impact on the espionage industry. Then comparisons will be made with realpolitik and its applicability to the theme, seeking to verify if the aforementioned objectives can coexist. The present article tried to use historical and contemporary elements, making a relation between current geopolitics and the historical roots of espionage in the search for its targets.
