- Authors
Reiss, Dale Anne; Costello, Mark R.
- Abstract
This article reports on ways in which corporations are investing in the location, flexibility, and sociality of their work environments as a means to recruit and retain employees. Studies show a work/life balance is one of the top three incentives in knowledge worker employment and companies are responding by accommodating telecommuting, remote offices with hotel chains and WiFi locations, pools, gyms and gourmet cafeterias on their premises, and a corporate commitment to sustainability. Google Inc. and Genetech Inc. are given as examples of company strategies for cultivating Gen Y work ethics.
