- Abstract
This article focuses on steps that need to be taken for protecting proprietary information. Companies are at risk for industrial espionage and inadvertent violations of export control laws despite the seemingly innocent nature of their firm. The author suggest formulating written policies addressing issues such as the exchange of technical data between companies, employees taking home data, and the use of laptop computers outside the office. He also suggest educating employees in every sector on the relevant governmental regulations.
