A letter to the editor is presented on the genetic basis and gender differences of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB) in endurance runners. Exercise is one of the most ordinary causes of bronchospasm in persons with and without chronic asthma. EIB is defined as transient, reversible bronchoconstriction that forms after strenuous exercise.
