- Title
Congo: Where Is The Oil Money?
- Abstract
The article highlights the allegations of Benoit Koukebene, Congo's former Oil Minister, that the regime of President Denis Sassou N'Guesso was not taking advantage of the increase in oil prices to enhance the well-being of Congolese. He claims that Congolese were yet to benefit from the more than $1 billion in oil revenues the country accrued in the first half of 2006. Koukebene made the statements during a launch of an initiative aimed at ensuring oil money goes toward Congo's development.
