- Abstract
The article discusses the dynamics, actors, and context that led to the criminalization of the usurpation of breeders' rights, as well as what this case means for the sociology of punishment. Topics discussed include the advances made by criminology and the sociology of punishment in leaving behind its state centricity; techniques and criteria employed to gather data; and inclusion of the offense of usurping breeders' rights in Colombia's criminal code.
