- Abstract
Insulinoma is an insulin secreting tumour, developed from pancreatic fi islet cells, characterized by the independent hypersecretion o f insulin. 80% o f these tumours are unique and benign, and about 10% o f cases are malignant, the remaining being multiple benign tumours (50% o f which are associated with multiple endocrine neoplasia syndromes). The diagnosis is suspected in a patient with symptomatic hypoglycemia, clinical manifestations constituting the "Whipple triad". We report the case o f a patient aged 70 from Sibiu, known with stage II hypertension risk group C, and stage II obesity, showing association o f the insulinoma with a tumour o f the left adrenal gland (hyperplasia o f the fascicular area). Genetic screening fo r the identification o f a M EN syndrome was not performed. INTRODUCTION
