- Abstract
The article presents a study on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as a predictive marker on the measurement of disease progression through the expanded disability status scale. It also identifies MRI as a main tool for diagnosing multiple sclerosis (MS) due to its delicateness when demonstrating its spacial and temporal dissemination of the central nervous system lesions and its detection from other neurological disease. However, it presents the measures derived from conventional MRI that are to be considered for reliable surrogate outcomes in the assessment for treating Phase II and III MS trials. The expanded disability status scale (EDSS) was used in a cross-sectional study among patients with MS which revealed a link between brain T2-hyperintense lesion load and physical disability.
