The article presents the discussion on pastoralism and development in Ladakh (India) and Kenya. Topics include processes of transformation in negotiating cultural and social identity amongst the Bedouins in the Egyptian Sinai; and socio-economic transformation following the new strategic military interest in the region by the Indian government.
