A literary criticism of the book "The Visitor" by Maeve Brennan is presented. It ponders on the notion that there is something far more interesting at work in the representations of home, urban life, and the self in evidence in Brennan's writing. It also aims to show that Brennan's growth as a writer of lends provocative and challenging insight into contemporary discussions of place, homeland and identity in the United States and Ireland by examining her work.
