- Abstract
The article offers information on female genital schistosomiasis (FGS) and HIV/AIDS which is a neglected gynecologic condition across sub-Saharan Africa. Topics discussed include FGS which is caused by terminal-spine parasite eggs released from female Schistosoma haematobium parasite in female genital tract that cause infertility, bleeding, and pain; an increase in the risk of HIV/AIDS transmission due to FGS; and mass drug administration with antiparasitic drug and praziquantel for prevention.
