- Abstract
The article discusses a research study on the use of vitrified-warmed oocytes for in vitro fertilization (IVF) in comparing the best combinations of 1,2-propanediol (PROH) and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) in breeding buffalo bulls. Vitrification procedure used three solutions of 1.5, 3 and 6 M DMSO or PROH while buffalo cumulus-oocyte complexes were aspirated from buffalo ovaries. Results showed that oocytes cleavage rate and index vitrified in PROH at germinal vesicle (GV) stage (PROH-GV) were 70% and 56% respectively. Conclusions indicated that GV stage oocytes vitrification with PROH is more effective than vitrification at stage II with PROH or DMSO.
