- Abstract
A relational study with a quantitative approach was made in order to describe the orientation needs in parents of Telesecundaria students; and to establish their relationship with characteristics of the parents and students. 74 fathers and 79 mothers selected in a non-probabilistic way participated. An instrument was elaborated as a tool for this work. Moreover, this instrument was applied a factor analysis with the maximum likelihood method and Varimax rotation, from where three factors were extracted, these latter ones explaining the 66.2% of the variation in the scores. Their reliability was as much as .91 and it was established through Cronbach's Alfha. The outcomes of the work showed how the parents possess urgent needs of orientation, especially in relation to the abuse of substances consuming. Furthermore, these orientation needs appear majorly in separated parents, and the needs did not show relationship with the children. It is concluded so, that there is the necessity that the orientation service of the school assists the parents as part of the preventive actions.
