- Abstract
The article discusses creative writing workshops and classes in France, exploring the influence of writing workshops on French and English literature. It describes the literary principles of Romanticism in relation to the act of writing, the relationship between the individual author and his teachers or collaborators, and the influence of creative writing courses in the American university system on French writing workshops. Other subjects under discussion include the theories of literary critic Roland Barthes in his book "Mythologies," the success of authors Raymond Carver, John Irving, and Susan Sontag stemming from their creative writing classes, and the book "The Secret River" by Kate Grenville.
