- Title
Should we recriminalize cannabis use? The case against.
- Authors
Hall, Wayne; Room, Robin
- Abstract
The article focuses on the debate concerning the illegalization of the use of cannabis. It is stated that cannabis is suspected to be a contributory cause of psychosis. It is argued that recriminalizing the use of cannabis will achieve the goal of reducing cannabis use or cannabis-related psychosis at an acceptable social and economic cost. It is assumed that the relation between cannabis use and psychosis is causal. Cannabis acts in concert with pre-existing vulnerability and other unknown factors to increase the risk of psychotic symptoms.
