- Authors
Traphagan, John W.
- Abstract
The article reports on the problem with East Asia's population. It mentions the argument of Russian-American sociologist and demographer Eugene Kulischer over the possible threat of East Asian population growth on Western economic and political supremacy. It notes a decline in the Total Fertility Rates (TFR) of East Asian counties from 1950-2010 including Japan, the People's Republic of China (PRC) and South Korea by 3.0. It also points out the contribution of cultural and social changes to low fertility.
