- Abstract
Background: Actinic keratoses are one of the most common causes of consultation with the dermatologist. Clinical practice guidelines are needed to establish the precise diagnosis and treatment options. Objective: To guide clinical decision making based recommendations based on the best evidence available and reducing variations in clinical practice in diagnosis and treatment of adult patients with AKs. Methods: Design: Research is acknowledged. We used the following search engines: PubMed, Ovid, Tripdatabase, MD consult, Clearinghouse, SUMSearch. Standardized sequence was established to search for practice guidelines. We found three guidelines which took many of the recommendations. For recommendations not included in the reference guides the search process was conducted in PubMed and Cochrane Library. The results were expressed as levels of evidence and grade of recommendation. Conclusions: The 5 - FU is the drug of choice for multiple AKs. Cryotherapy is considered first-line treatment only and hypertrophic queratosis actínicas and QA PDT is used for non-hyperkeratotic, face and neck, has good cosmetic results, with high costs.
