- Abstract
The article analyzes Austrian novelist Evelyn Schlag's approach to the notion of technology in her work "Die Kränkung." It cites the popular stereotype of technology as a utilitarian rationality that values efficiency and control above human sensibility. The narrator in the novel employs the strategies of personification, parataxis and metonymy to expose the impositions of a discourse that has its origins in technology.
