Title
President's Perspective.
Abstract
The author reflects on the Vergara v. California lawsuit that targets teacher tenure. She criticizes the idea of education as a product where a teacher is expected to treat the student as a client and to give him the knowledge that would enable him to land prime jobs in the U.S. corporate world. She points how English teachers in California have found refuge from this type of thinking by participating in the California Association of Teachers of English (CATE).
