- Abstract
Summary T he self-descriptive responses of 164 flight students to 30 forced-choice pairs, matched on an index of job importance but differing on discrimination values, were available from an earlier study. Differences between index values for statements in each pair were obtained for the preference index, job importance index, and discrimination index. These differences were correlated with frequency of choice of the nondiscriminating statements. A substantial relationship was found between PI differences and frequency of choice, even when the effects of apparent and real validity differences were removed. The results are compared to previously reported data and discussed in relation to the rating situation.
