- Abstract
The article profiles professor William H. Douglas. His ideas included the creation of one of the largest multidisciplinary groups in biomaterials and biomechanics in dentistry at the University of Minnesota and the development of an industrial university complex. He also developed an understanding of structure-property-function relationship in the dentinoenamel complex. Robert Craig of the University of Michigan and Ralph Phillips of the University of Indiana both have influences on Douglas' life.
