- Abstract
A weighed portion (5.0 g) of air-dried peat (0.25-0.5 mm fraction) was mixed with NaOH (calculated for 1 mol per mol of peat OH groups). The products of acetylated peat contained few bound acetyl groups and had limited solubility in Me SB 2 sb CO (solubility <=60%). The content of acetyl groups in the obtained products and the solubility of them in Me SB 2 sb CO increased after prolonged mechanochemical acetylation of the peat (Table 2).
