- Abstract
This study is dealing with effectiveness of field training in raising the competencies of the students on third year at Library and Information Department at Faculty of Arts, Menoufia University, linking this to labor market requirements and extracting form and components of field training under the programm accreditation of Library and Information Department, also the most important difficulties by the students during thier field training. The study was applied to 64 male and female students from the third year in the Library and Information Department who practiced field training, and the analytical descriptive mothed was used in conducting the study. The researcher has used electronic questionnaire by Microsoft Forms application, which included 15 questions distributed on six main axes: Personal data, the role of the department and its procedures, issues related to the field training program and its benefits and its relationship to the needs of the labor market, the academic supervisor and his role in the field training, the supervisor of the field training entity and a course in the training, and general questions). The study came up with a proposal for field training in Library and Information Department, which is represented by the field training plan aiming to a student who is practically trained all skills, processes and services that are provided in the various field training places, and that criteria are set for selecting field training agencies to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in training. And that the training plan changes continuously according to the successive changes in the labor market and the different skills to be acquired for the students in the different training places, and that the field training has specific objectives that are being achieved and are compatible with the targeted learning outcomes so that the training bears fruit and achieves what is intended to be acquired for the students during the training period. Also with mechanisms to obtain feedback from students and training authorities in order to improve both the educational process and the organization of field training.
