- Authors
Postley, John A.
- Abstract
This article reports on an approach to using large data-handling equipment for commercial problems. The author focuses on applications that may be useful in military departments, government projects, as well as industrial businesses, including inventory control and production scheduling. A series of questions regarding how electronic data-processing equipment should be employed are presented. The author suggests three ways of classifying digital computers and discusses what those classifications entail. The distinction between business-type and scientific computers is examined. Computer applications regarding the shipment of goods are also analyzed.
