- Abstract
This text hopes to contribute to the debate about identity politics in contemporary Mozambique. By juxtaposing the diverse identities making up the social fabric of the country to the ignorant haughtiness of the power structures present in it, the text problematizes the cognitive fracture between the national political project, conceived by the elites that control the state, and the multilingualism and polyphony of the real social fabric as they were manifested at various historical moments. From this dichotomy, it explores the discourse on the nation in various voices, problematizing the significance of the lessons of Mozambican history and the multiple silencings that the dominant historical narrative has brought about.
