- Abstract
The article explores the history of Fremantle, Western Australia with regard to the reunion of American submariners and rescued Australian prisoners of war (POW) in December 1944. The POW were reportedly rescued by submariners when the USS Sealion II torpedoed their Japanese transport ship while crossing the South China Sea to Japan. Topics include the rapport between Australians and American submariners in Fremantle during World War II and the horror endured by POW under the Japanese.
