- Abstract
We document the presence of the largest known concentration of Yellow Rails (Coturnicops novehoracencis) east of Quebec, in the Grand Lake Meadows of central New Brunswick. Rails were surveyed between 1991-L997 and indicated the area supported a minimum of 2-24. Fluctuating water levels appear to determine abundance and suggest that breeding is unlikely, at least in most years. The Grand Lake Meadows may be a significant post-breeding staging area for this species.
