Allergic canine otitis externa.

- Abstract
Otitis externa is one of the most common problems presented to veterinary surgeons in primary care practice. Although atopic dermatitis is the most common underlying cause of canine otitis externa, both cutaneous adverse food reactions and contact allergy can also affect the ear canal. Investigation and therapy of acute otitis is essential to prevent the problem progressing to chronic disease, which can be more difficult to manage and in severe cases can require surgical intervention.
